Live Long, Prosper, and Respect One Another

Starbase48 is a welcoming community for fans of Star Trek, science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and geek culture. Our goal is to create a fun, inclusive, and respectful environment where everyone can explore new worlds, make friends, and celebrate our shared interests.

By attending Starbase48 events or participating in our online community, you agree to follow this Code of Conduct.

1. Respect Everyone

Treat all members, guests, volunteers, venue staff, and the public with courtesy and respect.

We welcome people of every:

Age
Race
Ethnicity
Nationality
Gender
Sexual orientation
Religion
Ability
Background
Fandom

Discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, or hateful behavior will not be tolerated.

2. Be Friendly and Inclusive

Remember that everyone was new once.

Welcome new members.
Encourage conversation.
Respect differing opinions.
Help create an atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable participating.

3. Celebrate Fandom Responsibly

Healthy debates are part of fandom.

Discuss your favorite:

Series
Movies
Books
Games
Characters
Technologies

Keep discussions respectful.

No personal attacks, insults, or hostile arguments.

4. Keep Events Safe

During meetings and events:

Follow venue rules.
Respect personal space.
Ask before taking close-up photos of individuals.
Do not damage property.
Follow instructions from event organizers.

5. Costumes Are Welcome

Cosplay is encouraged!

Please remember:

Keep costumes appropriate for public venues.
Prop weapons must comply with venue rules and local laws.
Never use costumes to intimidate or harass others.

6. No Harassment

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

Offensive comments
Unwanted physical contact
Repeated unwanted attention
Stalking
Threats
Sexual harassment
Intimidation
Deliberate disruption of events

If someone asks you to stop a behavior, stop immediately.

7. Family-Friendly Community

Many Starbase48 events are open to families.

Please:

Keep language and behavior appropriate.
Be respectful of younger attendees.
Help create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.

Some special events may be designated for adults only and will be clearly identified.

8. Online Community Standards

Whether on:

Forums
Discord
Facebook
Meetup
Social media
Website discussions

Members should:

Be respectful.
Stay on topic.
Avoid spam.
Avoid misinformation presented as fact.
Never share another member’s private information without permission.

9. Alcohol and Substance Use

If alcohol is served at an event:

Drink responsibly.
Follow all applicable laws.
Never pressure others to drink.

Illegal drugs are prohibited at all Starbase48 events.

10. Help Build the Community

Every member helps shape Starbase48.

We encourage members to:

Volunteer
Suggest events
Share knowledge
Support fellow fans
Welcome newcomers

Together we make the club stronger.

11. Reporting Concerns

If you experience or witness behavior that violates this Code of Conduct:

Speak with a Starbase48 officer or event organizer.
Contact the leadership team privately.
Reports will be treated respectfully and as confidentially as practical.

Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith will not be tolerated.

12. Enforcement

Starbase48 leadership may take appropriate action when this Code of Conduct is violated, including:

Verbal reminder
Formal warning
Removal from an event
Temporary suspension
Revocation of membership
Permanent ban from Starbase48 events and online spaces

Serious violations may also be referred to venue management or law enforcement when appropriate.
