Farscape is one of science fiction’s most imaginative and unconventional franchises, blending epic space opera, character-driven drama, humor, romance, and groundbreaking creature effects into an unforgettable adventure. Created by Rockne S. O’Bannon and produced in partnership with The Jim Henson Company, the series premiered in 1999 and quickly earned a devoted international fan following.
The story begins when astronaut John Crichton is accidentally propelled through an experimental wormhole during a space mission. Instead of returning home, he finds himself stranded on the far side of the universe aboard Moya, a living biomechanical starship carrying a crew of escaped prisoners from many different alien civilizations.
As Crichton and his companions evade the militaristic Peacekeepers, confront the expansionist Scarrans, and uncover the secrets of wormhole technology, they form an unlikely family built on trust, sacrifice, and hope. Farscape is celebrated for its imaginative storytelling, richly developed alien cultures, practical creature effects, and emotional character arcs that continue to inspire science-fiction fans around the world.
