TusCon 53 – Tucson Science Fiction Convention
November 13–15, 2026 | Tucson, Arizona
Starbase48 members and fellow science-fiction fans have another Arizona convention to put on the calendar! TusCon 53 takes place November 13–15, 2026, at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Tucson Airport, 7051 S. Tucson Blvd., Tucson, Arizona 85756. TusCon describes itself as Arizona’s longest-running science-fiction, fantasy, and horror convention.
About TusCon
TusCon is a smaller, literary-focused science-fiction, fantasy, and horror convention organized by the Baja Arizona Science Fiction Association (BASFA). In addition to its emphasis on books and writing, the convention incorporates art, science, animation, media, gaming, cosplay, performances, and fan discussions. Attendance is intentionally limited to 500 registered attendees, giving fans more opportunities to interact with authors, artists, panelists, and other guests.
For Starbase48 members who enjoy the social side of fandom, TusCon should offer plenty of opportunities to meet other Arizona sci-fi enthusiasts while exploring interests beyond Star Trek.
2026 Guests of Honor
TusCon 53 has announced an impressive group of Guests of Honor:
Author Guest of Honor: Rebecca Roanhorse
Artist Guest of Honor: Galen Dara
Musical Guest of Honor: Tim Griffin
Toastmaster: Linda Addison
Fan Guests of Honor: Jason & Deena Drotman
The convention has also announced dozens of additional featured writers, artists, performers, creators, and other participants.
What to Expect
TusCon programming traditionally emphasizes participation and interaction rather than simply watching from the audience. Attendees can expect activities such as:
- Author discussions, readings, and writing-related programming
- Science presentations
- Science-fiction, fantasy, and horror discussion panels
- Fan-led panels
- Gaming, including tabletop and computer games
- Art Show
- Vendor Hall
- Cosplay Fashion Show
- Interactive game shows
- Performances and other special programming
The Vendor Hall features books, artwork, collectibles, handcrafted items, and work from artists, authors, and other creators.
Convention Passes
Current full-event pricing listed by TusCon is:
Adult Full Event Pass — $60
Child Full Event Pass (ages 6–15) — $30
Because TusCon limits attendance to 500 registered attendees, the organizers recommend registering early.
Convention Hotel
DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Tucson Airport
7051 S. Tucson Blvd.
Tucson, AZ 85756
The current TusCon convention room rate is $130 per night plus taxes and fees. The convention room block is scheduled to remain open through October 15, 2026, subject to availability. Hotel amenities listed by TusCon include free Wi-Fi, free on-site parking, an outdoor pool, and an on-site restaurant.
Why TusCon Fits Starbase48
TusCon’s combination of science fiction, fandom, gaming, literature, science, art, cosplay, and community makes it a natural event for Starbase48 members.
Whether you’re primarily a Star Trek fan or your interests extend to other science-fiction and fantasy universes, TusCon provides an opportunity to discover new authors and creators, participate in discussions, play games, browse original artwork and merchandise, and—most importantly—meet other fans.

The Tucson Convention Center (TCC) is one of Southern Arizona’s major destinations for conventions, expos, concerts, sporting events, theatrical performances, community gatherings, and other special events. Located in the heart of downtown Tucson, the campus offers approximately 233,000 square feet of new and remodeled event space.
For Starbase48 members and prospective members, the Tucson Convention Center is especially worth knowing because it hosts conventions and entertainment events that can make excellent destinations for future Starbase48 group outings.
The Convention Center Campus
The Tucson Convention Center is more than a single exhibition building. The campus includes:
- Tucson Convention Center – conventions, exhibitions, meetings, banquets and special events
- Tucson Arena – concerts, sporting events and large productions
- Linda Ronstadt Music Hall – concerts and performing arts
- Leo Rich Theater – smaller theatrical and entertainment productions
The Convention Center itself includes a Grand Ballroom, exhibition halls, meeting rooms, lobby areas and gallerias.
Its Exhibition Halls A, B and C provide approximately 89,760 square feet of combined exhibition space, while the Grand Ballroom offers approximately 20,164 square feet and can accommodate up to 1,200 guests in a banquet configuration.
Conventions & Fan Events
The Tucson Convention Center regularly welcomes major public events, making it an interesting destination for Starbase48 members interested in science fiction, comics, gaming, collectibles, cosplay and popular culture.
For example, the 17th Annual Tucson Comic-Con is scheduled for September 4–6, 2026 in the Convention Center’s Main Exhibit Hall.
Events like these can provide opportunities for Starbase48 members to enjoy a convention together, meet other Arizona fans and discover new areas of fandom.
Downtown Tucson Location
One of the TCC’s biggest advantages is its downtown location. Hotels are available within a short walk of the Convention Center campus, and downtown restaurants, entertainment and other attractions make it possible to turn a convention visit into a larger Starbase48 social outing.
The campus also recognizes Tucson’s local history and culture through areas including Alva Torres Plaza, La Placita and the Sosa-Carrillo-Frémont House. The Convention Center is also home to the Tucson Musicians Museum, a free-admission museum celebrating Tucson’s musical heritage.
Parking
The Tucson Convention Center provides approximately 900 event-parking spaces, including accessible parking, with parking available through Lots and Garages A, B and C. Additional public garages and parking areas are available throughout downtown Tucson.
TCC parking booths are cashless, so visitors should be prepared to use a major credit or debit card. Parking arrangements and prices can vary by event, so Starbase48 members should check the individual event information before traveling.
Accessibility
The Tucson Convention Center provides accessible facilities and accessible parking throughout its campus. Because the complex contains several different venues, visitors should check their particular event information beforehand to determine the best entrance and parking area.
Why It’s Worth Watching for Starbase48
With conventions, exhibitions, concerts, sporting events and entertainment taking place throughout the year, the Tucson Convention Center gives Starbase48 another Arizona destination to consider when planning club activities.
A future event at the TCC could become more than simply attending a convention—it could be a Starbase48 road trip and group meetup, giving members an opportunity to travel together, explore downtown Tucson and meet other fans from throughout Arizona.
