Synopsis
Three years into its historic five-year mission, the USS Enterprise arrives at the massive Federation starbase Yorktown for much-needed shore leave. While Captain James T. Kirk begins questioning his future in Starfleet and Commander Spock wrestles with personal loss and uncertainty, the crew is called upon for what appears to be a simple rescue mission.
Lured into an uncharted nebula, the Enterprise is ambushed by an overwhelming swarm of alien attack ships commanded by the ruthless Krall. The legendary starship is devastated, forcing Kirk and his crew to abandon ship and crash-land on a mysterious planet where they become separated.
As the crew struggles to reunite, they discover that Krall is searching for an ancient bioweapon capable of wiping out entire civilizations. With the help of the resourceful scavenger Jaylah, the Enterprise crew must overcome impossible odds, repair an aging starship, and stop Krall before he unleashes a devastating attack on Yorktown and the Federation itself.
