Synopsis
The galaxy stands at the brink of a new era when a catastrophic explosion destroys the Klingon moon Praxis, crippling the Klingon Empire and forcing it to seek peace with the United Federation of Planets. For the first time in generations, two longtime adversaries have an opportunity to end decades of hostility.
Captain James T. Kirk, still haunted by the death of his son at the hands of Klingons, reluctantly escorts Chancellor Gorkon to a historic peace conference aboard the USS Enterprise-A. When Gorkon is assassinated during the voyage, Kirk and Dr. Leonard McCoy are framed for the murder and sentenced to life imprisonment on the frozen penal colony of Rura Penthe.
